Question Injen Cai

Who here has an Injen CAI? How do you like it? What have you noticed performance wise? Any different sound from engine? Sorry for the questions but I just ordered on my mine and wanted to get some of your opinions. Thanks....

Yep..I have it....the biggest differnce I noticed is the throttle response seems to be a lot better...much chrisper. ahhhh I am told you can hear it when you mash the throttle down...but I am usually running with the tunes cranked...so I don't! lol

here is what it looks like installed....in case you hadn't seen one.

The look, sound, and performance are sweet! Absolutely a better throttle response, and that awesome swish sound at high rpm.

CAI

Does the kit come with a new bracket for the coolant reseviour? Or do you reuse the current one?

The Injen CAI comes with all the hardware you need. There are two little 90 degree metal brackets. One is for remounting the coolant resivoir. The other is for relocating some piece of business up near the throttle body.

Hearing the throttle swish and snort as you drive is maybe the best part. It sounds pretty mean.

They can take away our licenses, but they can't take away our right to MOD!!

STRUT BAR

I bought a Mazda OEM strut bar from my parts dept. Install only take about a half hour with the right tools.

you reuse the current one.....if you get an INJEN, go to Protege5Online.com and go into the TECH section and get the install instructions there...they are WAY better than the ones that come with the intake.....and there are a few pictures there and some good tips and hints on how to make it all go smoother and quicker...

total time to do this install is about an hour.

What about Mazda's warranty after that kind of Mod ? Or any other mod to the engine ? I hear a lot of different things...

Also, anybody went through winter with the Cai yet ?

Thanks!

CAI

Got the Ijen intake on this past weekend an what a difference. Better throttle response, especially after clearing the K.A.M. The sound is so soooooothing to my ears I almost want to cry. My g/f hates it though, sys it's to loud. I told her she full of **** and that the MS exhaust is what's making the noise. For some reason she just thinks it's louder, I just tell her "NO", and that it's all in her head. Really it is a whole lot louder, especially at WOT. I do have one question though, Should I run it in the winter? I have heard some people says the engine just takes longer to get to normal operating temp, is that it or is there more I should know. I am taking off the MS muffler and reinstalling the OEM just because of the salt they use on our roads here in Michigan. If someone can let me know on the CAI, I would really appreciate it. BTW, sorry for rambling so much....

having a CAI on your car won't make it take longer warm up...not the engine temp anyway...that is COOLANT..not air temp.
