the best deal i ever found was the group buy that i set up a month or so ago with ptuning. they sold them to us for 190, but that was only because we had more than 10 buyers. im sure they'll do the same for you if you can get 10+ buyers, tell them "Jon from ProtegeClub.com" sent you and they should honor that (if you have more than 10 buyers)

oh yeah, i forgot about adventon, and yes there is/was a site selling "injen" cold air intakes for under 150, but their not really injens, there some cheap knockoff, if you want a cheap knock off you can get it off ebay cheaper than that, but i definetly say pay a little more, get the best there is.

intakes usually fit both auto and man, in this case most definetly

I just bought it, 211.70 shipped. after I install this thing am I going to have to reset the computer IE unplug and replug the battery in, so that the computer can tell the engine "hey you can breath now"....

be sure to unplug only the negative terminal of the battery. also, you would want to disconnect the battery before you start the install. good luck with it. be patient with the cone filter. that was the hardest part for me.

you need to do something to get from underneath. the easiest thing to do is remove the black skirt on the underside. the bumper is a pain in the ***, trust me, dont so it.

just jack your car up nice and high. then unscrew the bottom cover. it's between the left fog and your wheel well. you will see 3 screws there. that cover is now a flap. be careful, i scratched myself up pretty good trying to fit the filter in. the flap is pretty flexible. if you have an extra set of hands, have them hold the flap down as you put the filter in. good luck!

if you have an extra set of hands i think you have more problems than trying to install a intake....might want to see a doctor about that.....

mp3wannabe and tonka, here's a thought: what if you just pick up a cheap filter for 30 bucks from pep boys or something. When it starts to rain, just seperate the second pipe from the MAF and push it out of the way enough to attatch the filter to the MAF sensor. That's what I do to my home-made "injen style" CAI for my 1.6 (because it's all pieced together ) Instant short ram.

hmmm... i'm going to have to look into that. i'm just concerned with the second pipe banging and getting dented because of the crappy tucson streets. there's a checkers auto parts store right around the corner from me. they sell apc cone filters for $18. is this even worth buying? it's not oiled, so can i just oil it? it's supposed to rain here on monday, i can't wait! just kidding.

tonka dude, since you live in the desert i dont think that an unoiled cone will be very good, you need an oiled one, but i dont see why a k&n kit cant oil that sucker up for ya, but it is apc....and no offence to any one that owns apc stuff, but for the most part it is price and built for the ricer market, so in other words, its not the best.....but for a few weeks outta the year it should be fine!

yeah, the dust thing here is out of control. that's why i wanted to know if the non-oiled filters can be oiled. i guess i'm going to have to spring for a more expensive oiled filter. oh well. i'm going to look at my engine bay tomorrow (i'm too tired now) and see where i can place my intake down pipe so it won't get banged around.

i love the way the intake looks, love the way it sounds, love the way it performs, but i'm scared crapless about hydrolocking. gosh darn tucson and their inadequate drainage system!

i'll keep everyone posted on how this little modification to the intake is going.
