just to let every one know Racing Beat DID put a K&N cone fillter on the MP3 prototype. But mazda didn't took it off.
and i think the only reason OEMs make that big air box is it makes no noise. some states have a noise law that restricks how much noise can come out of your car. hence the cat and other things that are inline on your exhuast.
