Help Installing short Shifter

Ok. I hope I don't sound too stupid. I have read the how to's but I still can't figure out how to take off the plastic retaining clip that holds there shifter in place.

Can some one help with any helpful hints or suggestions to make it easier. Or even walk me through it like I was a 4 year old. I would really appreciate the help.

Thanks

I just installed Kartboy SS saturday night. I assume you're having trouble with snap ring holding plastic bushings. I removed mine by prying with small screwdriver. There's little gaps near the ends of the ring. I'd really recommend snap ring pliers because installation is really tricky without them. They're reasonably priced at most auto parts <$6, and will make removal & installation a piece of cake. I'm making an extension for my lever- too short

YES get some snapring pliers.....they are pictured below....

and that ring is not plastic, they are steel. and they are a circular spring. if you look at it you will see it has a little hole in each end...the snapring pliers have a point on each end that fits into that little hole...when you squeeze the pliers it pulls the ends together and releases it from its groove....

piece of cake.

WTF, I feel like an idiot. Thanks Sir Nuke. This hole time I've been trying to pry out that white plastic piece.

I did actually, but the pics on the install site have been down now for quite awhile.
