help with drainbolt

I'm not sure whats wrong but on my 99 ES, the drain bolt will now come off, and now it is partially stripped. It is on so tight, I am a skinny weakling and cannot get it, so had my 180 pound cut friend come to try to help... still no dice... What gives?

I am on the right bolt right? to the right of the filter but a lot closer towards the crown, on a black looking thing, 19mm bolt...

I don't know what to do? I now have 4800 miles on my oil and really want to change it... any tips? I have just been using a regular socket and an adjustable wrench I've tried to use as well... thanks

hmm, i guess its just on there really tight...

is there a replacement drain bolt you can buy, since it is a little stripped, just to make it easier once it comes off

and now that i tihnk of it, I tried to rotate the tires too, but again no luck with the lug nuts... any tips for this? I was using stock lug wrench

if you havn't gotten it off yet.....go to the dealer and pick up a new drain plug...

go to a parts store or wal-mart or k-mart and buy a CROSS or TEE LUG WRENCH with the right size wrench for our lugnuts.....the stock POS isn't very big and a real pain if the nuts are too tight.

I took MY Tee wrench and wrapped it up in an old towel and put in on top of my spare...that way it doesn't rattle.

lugs off

Dumbly, I went 14000 miles before rotating my tires, so my lug nuts were on there pretty tight. To get them off, I put the stock lug wrench on, then I went and got my rake, which has a hollow fiberglass handle, and I slipped that over the wrench. Yup, it took about five feet of leverage to turn the nuts.

Once I got the nuts off, the wheels were stuck to the hubs, but that's a story from a different thread.

for my lug nuts I use a properly sized six point deep socket and a 3 foot breaker bar I have... when I first got the car I took the lug off and went to the stores and found a socket that was pretty tight on the nut (Stanley I believe). It took me three different places before I found one I was happy with.

Of course when I put them back on I use a torque wrench for final tightening. So I usually do not have a problem getting them off unless some one else was working on the car last.

Yeah, I use a big *** breaker for the lugs, and a smaller 18" breaker for the drainbolt

If the drain bolt it too tight you will most likely destroy the wrench before getting anything loose
