Question help

help... I have some crazy noises coming from under the hood.. it's a 2001.. Like a knocking.. I don't get it... and I don't want to really take it to the dealer because it can turn out to be not much, but be expensive... Plus days without the car.. I don't have anything done to it, being that I just got the car in my hands..

Also I'd love any info on like a Turbo or SC. any mods I can do really.. my last car was a golf.. this whole Mazda thing is new.. I know Hondas and Bla Bla Bla.. So any help would be great..

Thanks...
Kraut

yes I do have a warranty.. but wanted to figure out for myself and if it is gonna be to much to fix myself I will go that way.. but I am thinking the dealer will charge an arm and two legs for the problem..

I am a dork and said 2001.. it's a 2000. 1.6.
heh.. oopsie. I am tarded today.

anyway... I think it is something minor.. I don't need the dealer.they charge a deductable you know?

Warranty

Kraut,

Warranty is not like insurance there is no deductible to pay. You paid good money for your car take advantage of the situation and take your car in to the dealer. Let them pay for time and materials to fix the problem. I take my car in if there are any kind of problems such as rattles. The warranty is there just in case there are any factory defects after you purchase the car.

I thought with this car there was a sort of deductable.. I had an Altima years ago, and with the warranty, the problem had to cost so much or I had to pay like 100$. actually I had to pay the first $100 of whatever was wrong.

Kraut, take the car to the dealership and get it fixed under warranty, it will NOT cost you a dime, that's what a bumper-to-bumper warranty is for!!!!!!

bumper-to-bumper warranty doesnt cover everything. most wear items arent covered past 1year /12k unless you bitch like there is no tomorrow. this would include like wipers, lights, clutch, etc. stuff like that.

goto your dealer and ask them if you bring your car in for service. if you get a free loaner. some dealers do that. that way you can have them look at it. and you still have wheels.

Kraut

If your problem exists under the hood which in this case it does, then that sounds like a power train problem. These problems are covered unless you happen to have a insane amount of miles. If you are really worried just call your dealer and explain the situation.

you have a 50,000 mile warranty....take it to the dealer...if you try and fix it and screw up your car they wont cover that on warranty

kraut, even if it isn't there anymore, don't try and fix it yourself but take it to the dealer. It can't hurt, and you won't have to pay anything. Worst thing that could happen is that they could tell you that there's nothing wrong and send you back.

With Mazda's warranty, they're actually supposed to give you a free loaner car for any repairs done.

You were supposed to get a warranty manual along with your regular owners manual. If you didn't, you should definitely demand one from your dealer.

Just take it in, it can't hurt.
