Wow, are those numbers low. I've had my P5 (five-speed) since February and my worst mpg ever was 24.3, and that's US, not imperial. Best ever was 32.8 on a highway trip. In daily driving (short trips in the city or burbs) I average 26-27 mpg. 19 mpg in a 2.0-litre car? Scary.

AUTOMATIC GIVES THAT LOW

AUTOMATIC GIVES THAT LOW

I have tried different:

SPARK PLUGS
OIL, using synthatic 5W50 now, the best
Different ways of driving.

All give about the same.

walight01,

At how many miles did you have the fouled plugs?

I wonder if that is the same problem the other user about 5 replies before you is having.

I have read on other places on this board that using the higher than recommended octane rating, you will foul plugs???

5W50??? do you have a turbo??? that weight seems extremely high since the motor was designed for 30 weight. but then again it might not make a difference??

i fouled them at 20k, the factory plugs suck *****, i put bosch platnium +4 in(i know everyone hates them) and i pulled them at 50k and they still look brand new and they work very well. i pressure wash my motor all the time so it wasn't the water that fouled my oem plugs.

Do you like the +fours? I put some in my other car and found they worked well there.

Do you have the part number for the Pro5 2.0L engine?

Thanks,
Eric...

i don't have the part number, you can get them at autozone for 5.99 apiece, they should have them instock. the car revs alittle smother now and idles alittle better, i need better plug wires though, our wires are kinda tiny. but yes i love the plugs

Chuck, my numbers are even worse. It seems the auto tranny's on our cars really make it a lot worse. I do a lot of stop and go driving, along with sitting in traffic most of the day. I've gotten as low as 15.8 MPG!

Overall, combined with minimal highway driving, I've averaged 21.8 MPG after 4000 miles.
