Fuel Filter

I am helping a friend by doing his 30K service and he returned from his parts run minus a fuel filter. He said the parts department told him the only filter is the strainer on the fuel pump. Sure enough I can't find one. A forum search didn't reveal anything either. Is there an aftermarket setup people use? Am I missing something on the car?
Thanks, Scott

There is a fuel filter in the engine bay. I was sick of the bulky filter and I replaced it with a smaller, chrome after-market filter that works much better than the crappy and more expensive OEM filter.
