FS-ZE Mazdaspeed Pistons

OK guys I know teh FS-ZE has a 10.5:1 compression and the Mazdaspeed pistons have a 10.7:1 compression. I"m putting hte Mazdaspeed ones in my car they are in route now to me. I have one quick question though. Do you guys know if the MS pistons is .050 over the stock size in our cars. I know MMS says the FS-ZE piston is .050 over but I don't know about the Mazdaspeed ones. Anyone have any light on this?

ok Eric I'm been talkign with Derrick at CS and he says it is stock size and uses the stock rings but the FS-ZE pistons are .050 over sooooo this mean that the mazdaspeed familia DID NOT use the FS-ZE and was a hopped up FS-DE with a remapped ECU. This will maybe shed a little hope into some people.

How were the pistons?
Did they fit perfectly? How about the rings?

The pistons will fit in any 1.8 or 2.0 3rd gne protege with no modifications needed. If you are putting them in a 1.8L remember to get the ring set for teh 2.0L I think they are the same but I would rather not risk having to reorder parts.

so, you pulled you old ones out, popped the new ones in, and ran with it? no machining?

Hmm, so, with the higher compression of the mazdaspeed pistons, how much extra power would we be looking at?

or am i crazy? lol

No machining is necisary. The only time machining would be needed is if bought over size pistons. The mazdaspeed ones are OEM parts meaning OEM fit, finish, and quality. These pistons are out of the limited edition MAZDASPEED Protege in Japan that was only mad ein a number of 150 units. With the higher compression and the CORRECT tunign you shoudl be able to pull about 20 more HP out of them. Key to them is CORRECT tuning.

are you still running a stock ecu? if i change out the pistons, cams, intake, headers, and exhaust, would i still be able to run with the stock ecu? do you think i would have much issues?

sorry for all the questions, and thanks for any resposnes.

Yes I still runa stock ECU. I'm goign to make some custom cam gears for mine so i can advance the timing some and maybe experiement with a MSD DIS-2 even though MSD says it won't work the Link system shouldn't work on our cars either but it does on spoolins.
