fd-ze
where do u get, and how much are the jspec fd-ze engines?
what are the differences from the normal american engine?
i know about the intake manifold, cams and high comp pistons, but are the rods stronger too? can you turbo it? would it just be smarter to get the flyin pro turbo?

well i found out a few things by calling an importer, but does anyone know if the engine comes with the transmission and the ECU? if so, is the Tranny better then the american tranny or is it the same?

No not really, relating to the 5 speed. both use the G-15m-r I believe...In Japan their is a AWD option on the Sport 20 I think, but it is only available with an auto, which I do think is different from the FWD auto's in Japan and U.S. The North American 2.0L gearboxes should bolt right on to the FS-ZE, its the same block...
And to answer your questions from earlier, The rods are the same I think, as well as the entire bottom end. The pistons are higher compression like you said...Also the intake manifold and ECU are different...
If you are planning on going F/I with a ZE, you need to figure out what kind of numbers you are wanting. The ZE has just as much potential if not more than the DE, but will require much more precise tuning do mostly to the higher compression. You could upgrade with the ZE and run a low boost turbo setup that would give excellent response and similar power to a harder boosted DE, but without the torque snap at 3,000 rpm or the lag (assuming you would use the correct turbo for the low boost)
so to generalize it some what...If you want bigger boost stick with the stock FS-DE, if you want a turbo'd car that behaves more like a N/A car, go with the ZE and low boost...

The FS-ZE swap has been tried. You'd also have the change the ECU and wiring harness.
Here's a quote:
an FS ZE engine will not run any differently than our FS DE without the ECU from that car, which will not work with our wiring harness either if i remember correctly. LinuxRacr has done this swap with no success.

an engine swap isn't exacaly a cheap thing to do, you can make more power by throwing on a header, cams, pistons, intake and exhaust rather than doing an engine swap which will inturn give you more power but robbing you of TQ.
