Exhaust too quiet

I have a 2003 MazdaSpeed Protege and I love it for the most part, just one thing the exhaust is too quiet. Would changing the muffler to either Apexi, Greddy, 5zigen, hurt or help my HP? I hear that I shouldnt touch the exhaust because it is turned to this car. Is this true? one more thing what muffler does everyone recommend?

I thought the MazdaSpeed has the Racing Beat exhaust?

BTW, I love my Racing Beat exhaust...looks good, sounds good...not buzzy or 'ricey' at all
