exhaust tip inlet size

does anyone know what the inlet size of the stock exhaust tip in the '01 ES is? i want to get a new exhaust tip so i have to get the matching inlet size right? is changing the tips a hard job? i heard there was some welding involved.

any comments or advice are appreciated.

thx.

2 Inch inlet.

Yeah there's welding involved. Just a couple of spot welds though. It'll take a muffler shop less then 5 minutes to do it.

so im guessing a tip with a 2.25" inlet won't fit then...?

It could. If the shop you go to knows how to flare the existing pipe then you could get a 2.25" inlet to fit. "Flaring" means that the shop would heat and stretch the pipe to fit the 2.25" tip. It'll require more than spot welds. But it's still doable.

does anyone know of any nice looking exhaust tips that has a 2" inlet and a 3" outlet? something that looks like the mazdaspeed one would be ideal.
