Question Engine Mounts

Quick query on engine mounts.

Do the MP3/MSP have stiffer mounts than P5/2.0l Proteges? I assume with the MSP's extra hp/torque they would (mine thrashes around enough already!).

Read the threads and from the sounds of it the urethane mounts aren't very streetable. I agree with some of the postings and I would be more comfortable with Mazda Parts (even though I assume I'd be "paying through the nose" for them).

Besides the mounts and balky shifter (gonna cure that with the B&M SS) been pretty satisfied with my '02.

Thanks for helping out a newbie!!!

Griff

the MSP has a stiffer passenger side mount.... the engine seemed to held very well when I drove the preproduction MSP last year... I am going to install that piece soon as well as replacing the front mount.... I'm going to see how well it works and post my recommendations.... stick around long enough and you'll see it

Just outta curiousity, which one(s) has he broken? It seems doubtful that he would trash an entire set of 4 at once. From what I've seen, the No. 2 mount seems to be the most fragile.

Any idea what the part number is for the MPS piece? Spoke to a "useful" parts guy at a dealer who swears it's the same. Would like call him back with the number and thank him for being so helpful!!

Any idea how much they are down there? There $165 CDN (~100 USD) up here. Just checking to see if I can save a coupla bucks by having it shipped up.

Thanks again for the part number, wouldn't have gotten anywhere with Mazda without it.

Cheers,
Griff

I just called Mazda motorsports and asked them for the part # for the sport20's #3 engine mount. This mount will fit all 99-00 1.8l pros as well as 01+ 2.0l automatic pros.

The part # is B26K-39-06YD. It WILL fix most of the major wheel hop issues with the 3rd gens. Read my Mazdaspeed #3 engine mount thread to see why.

Took it into mazda and they told me its just rocks and to go though a car wash to get them out. did it and its still there could this be the problem?

i've heard of rocks getting stuck on the lower engine mount - it's basically right under the brake pedal, you can have a look and see if that's what it is.
With a 2010 you probably don't have any mount failure, but just for the hell of it, make sure that there aren't wet spots / leaks coming from the upper engine mount - near where the belt is at the passenger side of the engine bay.
