Aftermarket engine mounts

Has anybody replaced the supposed crappy engine mounts we have on our cars, with aftermarket bits?

If so, which ones?

Is there a noticeable increase in vibration and if so, is it tolerable?

The search button is your best friend!!

Try AWR and my friend Andrew (svxin) is having a more expensive (i.e. higher quality) all aluminum billit mounts made also.

you can also switch the standard number 3 motor mount with the "stiffer" mazdaspeed motor mount

Supposedly the rear one is so hard to do that I'm suprised we haven't seen on the news where some member ran amok with a meat cleaver mumbling incoherently about "damm motor mount." OK, but I did hear it's a PITA.

And that's only if you don't break anything else in the process. If you do, God have mercy...

yeah if you go to replace the clutch you should throw the mount in while you're there...I bet it will be super easy.

SVXIN is making me some billit aluminum mounts (front and both sides) for my P5. These also have "adjustable" bushings that can be pressed in and out. All you have to do is tell him the duramter (sp?) of the bushing you want and he'll include them. They are a bit pricey but well worth it.

Hey I just saw thie thread about engine mounts and decided to share my experience. I bought a '01 ES with nearly 80K miles on it and after a few months the front mount near the radiator started going. My engine rocking violently so that I could feel it through the pedals whenever I started up the car and put it in drive. I didn't spend any time looking for aftermarket mounts, instead went right to the dealer and had new stock ones ordered. The car is fine now and that the end of my engine mount story.
Thank you for listening.

yeah, stock mounts are too weak though for any sort of agressive driving. My car has 11K miles and the stock mounts are almost gone.

the mounts were made intentionaly weak in these cars to offset the jerkiness of the low gearing.

From what I've heard, it really doesn't add much more stiffness; still have the wheel hop and engine jerk problems associated with the OEM mounts.

I've purchased the automatic AWR mounts which have the softer durometer (88 vs 92 for the manual mounts I believe). I'm still concerned that it may be a little too stiff.

I've also purchased an extra set of OEM mounts, which I plan to fill with "Window Weld", and see how the car runs using those vs the AWR ones.

Smile Corksport has that too

I just visited corksport and the amout of stuff avalible from them is amazing as compared to when I first got my MP5 back in DEC. 2001 !! My first visit with them came up only 3 pages now its up to atleast 50 !! I have already made up a list of future mods including all the GTSPEC stuff. some examples: braided brake line kit $89 , GTSPEC 4 point ladder bar $135 , Rear GTSPEC strut bar $135 , GTSPEC front TIE bar $68 , Power series throttle body $255 , Bronze oil bushings for the shifter linkage $34 , SS braided clutch line $18 and lots more. It seems the MP5 will become a street terror after all. I just wish I had the money for the FM turbo kit before they stop selling it. (sniff)
The wheel hop can be tamed if you can get some polyurethane bushings on the lower control arms ( so I've been told by the staff at SCC )
