EGR valve question

I am looking at putting a custom long tube header on my car and was wondering how in the world would i hook up the EGR valve to my header??? Or is there a way i can disconnect it and trick the ECU into not using it anymore?

just weld a flange to the header to accept the stock EGR pipe
