Custom Intake done (2000 1.6)

K I just got done making my custom intake for my car. Wow what a beasty sound . check it out at http://protege000.tripod.com i am getting a new mandrel bent pipe its in the mail. means more power. thanx

man thats neat!

i was hesitant to do a custom intake..but now after seeing yours done, im 80% sure ill try something similar myself.

its not hard at all i got a new airbox at mazda for 70 ******* dollars but when you cut it use a dremel tool. and go slowly dont rush. If you need any help e-mail me.

It's pretty sad, I got all my parts before you Ben... and I haven't even started my intake yet. It's been too cold to sit in my garage after work and work on it.

I guess Mazda figures people will change their intakes out now because on the Pro5 (and Im sure the 2001 & MP3) the MAF just comes right out & you put it on your new intake. No cutting or chopping requires. Just unbolt & pull it out of the grommet (and with the injen, you just put it in between the 2 metal bends & add the small rubber joiners & you're done!)

Mitch, if I understand you correctly, that's true of all the 3rd gen 1.8L & 2.0L Proteges. Two bolts and slide the MAF out, that's what I did on my '00 ES.

Hey Ben, Why did you take out the Injen intake? Was it not working for you? I want to add a CAI to my MP3 but I'm kinda waiting on AEM to make one. Looks cool btw
