Can you take the B&M SS off after?

I want to install one of those after my tranny breaks in but want to know can it be taken out afterwards? Just want to make sure so if anything happens I can always return it to stock and take it to the dealer.

Yes, it can be removed later just as easily as it is installed. Just make sure to keep all your stock parts in a safe location that you won't forget.

I have the original B&M (the one that does not specifically list the 99- Protege, but fits without the circlip.)

I cannot get the #&$%* thing out. Pull as hard as ya like, no luck. WD40, etc. No luck.

I have resorted to buying the complete rod that runs to the tranny for putting back in the stock one (was only $25 at a wrecking yard.)

I hope that the 'correct ones' that allow the circlip usage come out easier...

YMMY, etc.

Hmm, remove the bolt and disconnect the shift rod from the shifter. Place a floor jack with a piece of wood on it under the shifter with the shifter in neutral. Slowly raise the jack under the shifter comes out.

Dang exhaust is in the way. Perhaps there is a variation on this approach.

Otherwise, the whole rod thingy comes out and goes into the vice. From there I expect I can use a drift to force the shifter out.

short shifter should'nt void your warranty, should it? why would you want to take it back out?

I'd taken my car in for transmission related issues (not
disengaging all the way with clutch in - which it is doing again!). I didn't want to give them any ammo/whine factor.

Of course, to take it in again, I wonder if they'll complain about the poly engine mounts :-)
