how often should you clean the filter on the injen CAI? i bought a K&N recharger kit for it since someone said that it would work even if injen makes the filter

The K&N recharger kit works on all different types of filters, as for cleaning its up to you, K&N suggests you dont clean it that often and use the dirt to 'help' the filtering process...so its basically at your discretion, I recharge mine every 6 months...

Don't clean it too often. Believe it or not, the dirtier it is (within reason) the better it filters. Think about it - the dirt already trapped makes the pores smaller, and as such bigger particles aren't able to pass through. I can't see a dirty filter hindering performance that much either. I'm going to do mine come spring, when it will have been about 10 months since I put it on.

Back to your question Em, I'd do it about every 8-10 months, but like I siad, not much sooner.

K and N says to clean their filters every 50k (with the ever present "Depending on driving conditions)

An OEM filter is supposed to be changed every 15k, and these "Cleanable" cotton filters are supposed to be less restrictive and would obviously have to filter and catch less crap.

Taking both into account I would clean them at about 30.

If you often drive on dirt roads, you may want to clean it a bit more frequently - say 4 times a year. Otherwise, once or twice a year is fine. Keep in mind that you gradually lose performance between cleanings, so the more often you clean it (within reason), the better off you are. I would strongly recomend against waiting until 30,000+ miles.
