Broken Tranny

When you rest your hand on the shifter, you are loading a bronze transmission component (called a slider) against steel components, either the blocking ring or the gear stop. This will cause accelerated wear on the softer-metalled blocking ring, which will soon lend itself to popping out of gear. It can also cause an overheated gear from the additional loading. This will not show itself until fatigue breaks it. Unless you are shifting the car...don't touch it.

Does anyone have a diagram of this? I can´t really picture the parts in my mind.

This is the second time that this has happened within a 200 mile span they keep rebuilding it. But I want them to replace the tranny with a new one. But my dealership is cheap. It is rediculous. Obviously the parts are bad so if they would replace the whole thing it might actually work this time. Also parts are on back order but trannies a readily availible. Commom sense is at a loss here. Does anyone have a number to Mazda Customer service I want to file a complaint. Thanks. I love this car and it pisses me off that I can't drive it.

I have only used the BBB once, and they were VERY helpful. The matter was resolved within a week. So it might be worth a shot to use them in addition to whatever other methods you see fit to get what you want.

Damn... I very often hold onto the shifter while I'm driving, atleast in the city when I know I may want another shift soon... Just like I leave my left foot over the clutch until I get to a cruising speed.
But I'll just have to train myself to put both hands on the wheel all the time. This is what I do when I'm not grabbing the shift ****.

sorry if this was mentioned, i didn't read through the whole thing. sorry to hear that you have car trouble, i got my own problems, my fault though. but since it broke and is under warrantee, get a rental from the dealer (included in the warrantte and paid for by mazda) and drive a rental while they fix your car.

Rental
About the rental that was mentioned. My dealership will not provide me with a Dealership they say its because of my age (19). So they said that I must find my own way and its not their problem to get me a ride. Also my dealership does not even own a courtsey car. Then again they only have one Mazda Tech in their service center. I hate stupid people!!!!
