Bought new SPEC stage 3 hybrid clutch.

I can't say enough good things about HorsePowerFreaks for selling me the SPEC stage 3 hybrid clutch. Best customer service of any large company I've ever had.

The clutch I bought is a Spec unit 6-puck clutch. The pressure plate side of the clutch is a stage 2 while the friction surface side is a stage 3. Spec claims it'll hold up to 350lb-ft. This should provide plenty of clamping force for me to destroy my engine block and transmission.

Horsepower freaks even gave me the bulk pricing discounts though I was the only one who bought one. They even threw in the stainless clutch line for $5!!

all in all I got a top of the line racing clutch and stainless line for $288!

Who's yer daddy!

Pretty sweet. I wonder how the feel will change (more abrupt, perhaps?). If I were you, I would wait until I had a lightened flywheel in hand, before tearing into the car. If you are going to do the clutch, might as well recover some hp previously lost to inertia as well, while you have her apart.

It's been a while since I've done a clutch in a fwd car.... not since college. I remember it being pretty fun, at least until the beer was gone, we woke up the next morning, wondered if the last piece of pizza left sitting on the toolbox was still good, and wondered if we torqued everything down correctly!

I hear it will be "agressive" but the reason I chose it over the full stage 3 is because the hybrid is for daily driven cars. I'm assuming this will be easier to drive.

The reason I didn't buy the flywheel is because they are $350 and I am running REAL lean right now.

p.s. I HAVE to have a solid clutch so I can dyno the WOMP in a week and a half. Won't work for me to pay $400 for tuning when you can't rev over 2500rpms!

....only a week and a half until you dyno her in, and get started on the calibration work? Wow. Time flies. You will have to post some pics of your project, "in progress".

yeah, dyno day is 1-29/30 at Walker dyno tune.

I'll be sure to get PLENTY of pics and a few videos of the car doing both a road tune and a few dyno pulls.

Out of interest how much more would the full stage 3 hold ?

As you know I am on the look out for a bigger clutch for mine

Here ya go.... Spec says the Hybrid holds 350lb-ft but they've seen them take 450lb-ft blasts from nitrous cars.. Toady, I think shipping would be heinous to you but if you were to invite me over......i ....may be able to bring it with me!!

Here's the clutch....it's getting installed tomorrow.

i did get the full stage 3...it's a 6-puck design. the "hybrid" is a stage 2 on one side and stage 3 on the other....worthless...

pedal feel is stock with only slightly more throttle modulation needed to keep from bogging. However, spin it up and dump it and it snaps shut like an alligators jaws!! I'll see what kind f deal I can get for you though anyway.

That's one kick-*** deal you got there.. The Spec Stage III Hybrid Clutch is great. This is also the clutch I have.
