Auto Shift Kit

I presume you mean the one that will allow you to use it kinda like the "manumatic" without screwing up the tranny..
My friend had one in his '67 cougar... but can they be applied to our "hi-tech" electronic systems?

You didn't indicate what model, so....
You can look here:
http://www.bulkparts.com/
They carry a wide range of auto trans products, including some shift kits for earlier model automatics. The 3rd gen Pro has little available yet.
I have manually shifted my P5 auto successfully (up & down), but advise against it as there is no safety interlock to prevent overshifting, which could be catastrophic if you hit 1st at anything over 40 or 50 mph, etc.
I suspect that the manu-matic trans is the same as the basic auto, withthe exception of a shifter designed to ratchet one gear at a time in the manual shift gate, and probably a different valve body calibration. It's posible the torque converter has a higher stall speed to add some seat-o-the-pants excitement, but that may just be wishful thinkin.
Any Mazda tranny techs out there?
This may be of interest, too: http://www.levelten.com/store/import...azda_hydro.htm
