Question AEM or Ingen?

I plan getting the Racing Beat Catback soon. The least expensive Ive seen it advertised is @ Advanced Auto $435 and ProtogeOnline.com $449. Can anyone beat that?

Next is my intake, Is there a noticable difference between the short ram and CAI? Any Dyno comparisions ever done?Is the Ingen worth the money and addtional labor over the AEM for the difference?

Price wise the best Ive seen is $238 for the Ingen @ Optauto.com and $189 for the AEM @ Speed&Style.com.
Can anyone also beat that?

PLEASE HELP me spend my retro check before my wife notices its gone!!!

FENRIS...welcome to our happy home.....but you can use the search feature in the upper right hand corner and use "intake, or injen, or AEM" for your search criteria and you will have pages and pages to read on this subject.....

Personally I like the INJEN better.....the performance being the exact same.....it looks a lot better in my opinion.....just a sweeter set up.

INJEN CAI!

I think the Injen CAI is better because it goes all the way down to get the coolest air of the engine area. Then again i believe both do the same performance wise. The Injen CAI is cool because it not only stops half way, but look better! The AEM and INjen aren't that far off in prices, so i think you should go with Injen. -JJ

i recommend getting the ractive intake cost about $120 cdn.. then purchasing a heat shield filter and converting it to a CAI for less then the price of either an injen or AEM...

Sir Nuke, You ever discussed with a Mazda tech, how the CAI may void your warranty. My local Alabama dealer told me the CAI voids the engine warranty, unconditionally. I figure take it off and put the factory back on if repairs are needed, but if this guy was feeding me bull, I would like to know. Thanks for all your input, good to have guys on here that know so much

P.S. All this talk about winter tires by the canadian owners, makes you glad it is in the 80's down here, doesn't it???
Later.

I must have **** techs' then, according to them I have voided the warranty on my suspension since I lowered my P5, granted I can understand that I may have voided the struts....but to say a CAI voids the engine warranty, a short shifter voids the transmission warranty, and it just kept going. I have the 7 yr/100k warranty, but damn, I need to have fun adding things to this car. Thanks for the input. Later

Okay...this has been discussed many times before but here it is again. there is a thing called the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act it protects you....the consumer....unless the part that you install CAUSES the failure to the stock part you are wanting to get repaired under warrantee.....you are covered...

NOW, does that mean tha the dealer won't try to give you a load of **** and get out of it? NO....many of them will...it will just depend on your dealer.

To tell you the truth. I dont think that the Injen gives you any more horsepower than the AEM. It does give you a deeper sound than the AEM will tho. If the extra money is not a problem then go for it.

WILL void the warranty

I'm sorry, but a Cai absolutly WILL void your warranty! So would an exhaust. Just about anyting you do on the car not solely cosmetic WILL void your warranty. Mazda is very strict about that. Even if you attempt to buy the parts from Mazda and have them instaled by the dealer or shipped back to the factory. ( I know I tried this for a Mazdaspeed tuned engine in a P5 ) and it just will not work. Remember for Mazda to back anything they make with any kind of warranty, they must first run extensive tests for each modification to be placed under warranty. Tests which cost a lot of money! Then they must be placed threw rigorous government regulated trials ( for all the legalities *if that's a word ) Can you imagine how much it would cost to test every AM part on the market and each and every combination of those parts then place them under warranty ( assuming mazda would be doing the instalations) I'm sorry, but it just ain't *yea, I said "ain't"* gonna *yea, I said "gonna" too* happen.

sorry Frank....but you are wrong.....do your homework on the law..

will the dealer give you crap and a hard time about your aftermarket part? some may...others won't....just depends on your dealer....but the bottom line is....BY FEDERAL LAW...that if the part you have installed does NOT cause the problem you are claiming...the dealer (MAZDA) is required by LAW to perform the repair.
