? about ms axle back + wagner midpipe

I was wondering would the power from a mazdaspeed axle back and a wagner midpipe compare to a catback system from lets say... magnaflow or borla?
thanks, Ian

I have a setup similar to that. OBX header -> 2.5" catless midpipe -> stock catback -> mazdaspeed axleback. I get tons of torque down low but its loud as hell and sounds rice-a-rific.

My name is Ian too cool!

Wouldnt it be quieter if the midpipe have a cat or even highflow cat? cus in Illinois you need all cats and crap. to pass emissions
(now i know 5 people with the name ian)
thanks, Ian

ok but do you think the power compares to a full catback or you dont have an idea about that.
Thanks, ian

You should get more, iff you get the highflow cat.
Mazdaspeed axel back = 3 hp
highflow cat around 3 hp.

You already have and equal amount of power to a catback. And your car will sound alot cooler (deeper), mine does atleast.

My setup probably gives more gains than just a catback. Aslong as you have a header.

The high flow cat that comes with the midpipe will increase power.

If you get a catback you dont get that, hence cat back from cat back. If you were to get both a catback and a midpipe you would see more gains then either.

I don't know about the MSP or the P5 but the protege sedan has I beleave 2 1/4 pipe from the cat, and only 1 3/4 from the down pipe to the second cat. I looked under it and that seems to be the biggest restriction. Replace that part and you'll see good gains.

Now that would be some nice gains!
Throw in a header and your looking at some decent power. And as long as you get the midpipe with the cat, you can get a long style header then you will have a really freeflowing exhaust.

Hey, do you happen to know of anywhere that has a recording of the borla exhaust? I'm considering it and wanted to know how it sounds....if not be sure to record it when you get it for infromational purposes and bragging rights!
Thanks.
Scott.
