2000 Es Ignition ??

My question is, can i replace my coil packs wit a after market brand? And will they bolt right up or do I have to make my own bracket? And last do any of you have the DIS2 from MSD in there car?

I don't have the MSD DIS ignition, but you can use aftermarket coils. They won't likely fit the stock bracket or wiring harness though, so you would have to come up with something on your own. The wiring might be trickier than the physical mounting.

the coil pack system is very powerful , why do you want to replace it?...if you are able to find more powerful packs I doubt you'll see an increase...you can replace the wires if you want with something better looking....also the stock coil packs will definitely handle the added power if you go with the MSD ignition...but unless the you are doing some major mods like nitrous or forced induction they're really a waste of money...Mazda equipped this car with one helluva stock ignition system

That's not necessarily true Jesse. A stronger spark can be of benefit, although it certainly isn't what I would call a performance mod. It can provide a smoother idle and better throttle response by eliminating the occasional weak signal causing no spark/weak spark. Just don't think it's going to provide a power increase on a stock or close to stock car that's in good condition.

Thanks

1st off thanks for all the advice.
I am planing on adding a 50 shot wet setup in the near future thats why I'm trying to upgrade my ignition. But it looks like I might be able to use the stock bracket on the 1.8 the coil packs are setup side by side not like the 2k1 engine were the coil packs are on top. I don't really have much experiance working with ignitions. So this will hopefully be a good learning experiance.
I also plan on adding a fuel regulator to add alittle more pressure if possible. And I also was told when I get my DIS2 I can add a retard box to retard timing when the NOS is activated. I'll start posting on the NOS thread cause don't wanna waste any more space here when theres a place to post my Q's on this subject.
Thanks again guys!
