2.3liter swap possible ever?
Well with the release of the 6, with the 170hp 2.3 liter 4 cylinder, and the future release of the mazda3 that should incorporate this engine. My question is, would a 2.3 liter swap be possible into the 2002-2003 protege5, or any 3rd gen proteges at that. The N/A 170 usdm motor would be great in my opinion. Yes i know there is the FS-ZE but it will never make the correct amount of power either.
so no real reasons like diffrent mounting points or that... just assholish NO comments (*the man, why dont you just close my ******* thread already)
what i was looking for was what the main diffrences were and such, not smart *** comments

Andrew,
Edwin is just saying that it probably isn't worth putting one in, but I think yours is a valid question just the same. Perhaps his answer was a little immature, but I think at this point, we've all pretty much tuned him out anyway...

if you can figure out how to cram the axles, tranny, SHIFTER LINKAGE, wiring harness, ECU in.... I'll give you a cookie

If you're going to go that far, you might as well convert the car to rear wheel drive and drop in a Rotary or a well tuned Miata motor.
Now there's an idea...
(Yes, I'm aware of cost of fabrication, materials, testing, blah blah blah)
A rear drive Protege 5. Cool.
