You can but you would have to do lots of motor mount work and get a new ECU. $$$$$$$

If I was going to spend the money (and effort) of doing an engine swap, I would go for the FS-ZE like UPSman. Or, my new desire, the 1.8L BP... performance parts galore and rock-solid design.

If the FS wasnt a rock solid design, do you think that Mazda would have used it for 10 plus years. Also I have heard that the desing of the FS is post to be a cross between the FE and F.

Didn't say the FS wasn't a rock-solid design. It's great... for an economy sedan like the Protege. But I don't think it can last, in the long run, like a BP can under hard driving. I had a BP in my '91 EGT which didn't even hiccup after many years of abusive driving. My FP hasn't been holding up like the BP did... and I don't even push it as hard as the BP.
