Thats why I went with 14's. Plus the miata alloy wheel is lightweight .

I have to becarefull when I am driving in areas that have like slight raises in the roads and uneven pavement ,cause the front is quick to scrap and not the spoiler, I mean underneather the car, ... the resonator(god bless it's heart) scraps on everything the size of a speed bump ,,, no worries though ,, so 15's ,,, super lightweight will be on there way after the turbo engine is purchased

Talking Hey, neat! And a 15's suggestion

That looks hilarious!

Although I'm curious - didn't you go with 16s or 17s that had the same rolling diameter as your original 13s? When I switched, I went from 175-70-13 on my steelies to 195/50-15 on my Konig Heliums. 1% difference in rolling diameter and speedo error. The only reason that seem to fill up the wheel well better is because there's more metal (wheel) and less rubber (black stuff) making the overall black area look smaller.

Now I know you have lowered your car as well, so that will further reduce the amount of empty black space - but I don't understand how/why your car feels lower - unless your 17's were of a different diameter!

BTW - I got 15" Konig Heliums for my car - they're running good deals on them everywhere. Check ebay - this one guys sells them there all the time, and ahs his own website (same price - but he can hook you up with tires), and also check groupbuycenter.com (I got mine from pete there - I can send you info if you're interested). They're really light - 11.5+ lbs, and with tires on them (Falken ZIEX ZE 512) - the wheel tire combo actually weighed a couple of lbs less than my stock 13" wheel/tire (Michelin XH4) combo! I feel a barely perceptible difference in power/picup, but they handle SO MUCH better!

Rota also makes a lot of really lightweight wheels, and in many colors (Heliums anc greenlights - the other super-light Konig - come in only Silver and Bronze). I think Rishie sells Rotas.

Let us know what you go with when winter's over!

i definetly hear you , my other rims were 16's with 205/45/16 khumo's ,, they were bigger than the 13's , or taller i should say .. but the power gains of the 13's is something I would hate to loose, wich is why I want lightweight 15's, but I intend to get the gtx motor 1st before anything else , that is my number 1 concern

yeah it is fiberglass,,, believe it or not , it does not scrape neither , nor has it hit anything ,, that is all from rocks and stuff from driving the car ,,, I will be getting it painted again as it is coming off for the winter ... and we will see what is good for next summer
