mazdaspeed shocks question for those who have them

I have a question for you , did you get a small tool that you can use to adjust the front shocks with ? Reason being is that when i got mine I did not get a tool or anything with them . First let me tell you that the mazdaspeed box that the shocks were in , was totally bashed , I mean it looked hurt, Also I got a bolt for the back strut but not the front, you know how you sometimes get a new bolt.
Anyway I called mazdamotor sport about this , and let them know and they basically said that I may have to use a small screw driver to adjust the front shocks ,. (pic is attached of the front shock) . he said that koni's have ***** and so forth , but these the front would need a small screw driver to adjust and the backs have a **** on them that you can turn and adjust them ...

anyhow I asked him when i would get the rest of my shocks in , wich would complete my 700 dollar order and only receiveing two struts wich was what he had in stock ..... Know , he told me that fromt the time of them putting the order in and it getting to japan and it being processed would take about 1 1/2 months to 2 months ......
so basically I was like ,," do you think I will get them by may 4 th ,, cause i told him I was doing a car show and I needed to show them off, so if he could look into it and find out how long these things are gonna take to arrive ,,,, "
basically , he did not sound like he wanted to look into it at all ...
know take in mind I ordered this from these guys cause I hear yall talk about them and say how they are ohh so good and what not ,,, but you know I am a corksport - derrick , afficionado ... so that is where most of my orders are placed and they tend to arrive to me with no stress or delays , and Ben will always give me that heads up phone call and holla at me to let me know that they are still looking into a part or at least checking to see if they have it ,, how much it will be , when it shipped and all that.....

So to my avail corksport will stay as my main supplier cause what can I say ,, I am spoiled with good service , not to mention not having to pay damn tax on stuff

Having had Mazdaspeeds (and before them GABs--same adjuster), you simply use a small screwdriver. But be VERY careful with the top of the strut, as the adjuster is easily damaged, and then becomes useless (having 2 struts that have dead adjusters).

thank you very much for that answer,,, i was wondering cause I really did not want to have to use a screw driver as they do tend to mess things up at times ... but chances are high that I am leaving the front and rear at 2

Mine are on 2 all around on the street. Setting 1 wound probably be fine with stock springs (when transporting parents, etc), but with most springs 2 is a better setting. 4 is unbelieveably stiff. My EGT friend Will uses the difference between 1 and 4 for demo purposes. On 1, the car is easily bounced...on 4, it doesn't bounce at all. If you autocross, I usually go with 4 in the back, which is (barely) tolerable on the street. But you won't drive very far on the street with the front on 4.

Bruce, as you know I got the MazdaSpeed struts from Mazda Motorsports also. I didn't get a tool to adjust the front struts either. I just threw one of the dozens of small computer screw drivers I get from all over the place in the car. It works just fine, what else would you use? The boxes being banged up is just a by product of how far the struts have to travel to get here. I'm pretty certain Corksport gets most, if not all, of their Mazda made parts through Mazda Motorsport. There isn't any difference between the two in terms of time frame for getting Japanese parts in stock. They really can't do anything about the delivery time from Japan. Heck, Mazda Japan wouldn't even give Mazda Motorsports the specs on the FS-ZE or MazdaSpeed cams! Did you talk to Brian, or Tim? They do have relatively short hours, and are often really busy, but my experience with them has always been pretty good. Other than only getting one poly bushing for my AWR rear sway bar, that is. On the other hand, Corksport has been good when I have dealt with anyone other than Ben. I'd rather leave my car stock than talk to him again! Mazda Motorsports is always slightly cheaper also. It's probably more of an advantage if you become a team support member, which I plan to do this year.

The Tire Rack is awesome, even if some of the salespeople are snobish. I've been ordering wheel packages from them for way longer than Jesse's been driving (), and everything has always been perfect and VERY quickly delivered. I do wish they would expand there choices a bit though. I think they could crush the competition with a larger selection. As a matter of fact, I need some 17" wheels to clear the new brakes that are on the way. I was looking at the ASA LS5's (17.4lbs) with Bridgestone S-03 tires.

Talking ok the other 2 have arrived

Ok so the other 2 shocls arroved and I must say that the packaging was superb , I only wish that the first 2 were packed like this .. At any rate , upon opening the boxes and instpecting the shocks , I noticed that they are in lovely condition . I do thanks mazdamotosport for being sure to pack this set better than the first ..

As noted earlier , my only gripe was that the salesperson , acted as though he did not even want to take the time to look and see if my order was being preped or what .. and I thought well damn if you don't want me to order from ya anymore then , this would be the attitude to have to run me away lol ...
at any rate , thanks to all who replied with different methods of adjusting the front shocks , I am glad to report that my plans for carlisle are going exactly as I planed them out , and belive me , I sat down and planned this all out , . expenses and all

Bruce, the struts are great, but don't sleep with 'em, put 'em on the car! LOL
Why do you need new bump stops? You can use the stock ones. I forget what springs you're going with, but cut a little bit off the stock bumpstops at a time until you get to a point where you don't hit them much, or half the bumpstop. I wouldn't go beyond half of the stock bumpstop, at that point I'd get some smaller poly ones to protect those expensive new struts.
