Whats up with my redline?

i've checked the faq and according to the data there, my 2nd gen 1.8l should
a) have the bp-de and
b) redline at 6500 rpm.

i'm sure i read a thread somewhere that mentioned i actually have the bp-Ze engine but i don't know if thats the case or not.

either way, none of those redline figures match up with the 7200 that my tachometer says i get.

it would seem that i know less about my car than i thought - it is apparently an RS model but i can't seem to find any information about it anywhere.

anyone have an idea what the heck i'm driving? is it just regional differences?

i certainly agree bruce, but...........

'scuse the picture quality....

i would have thought that they would be more accurate with putting the redline on there - if this is sposed to be 7000rpm, somebody needs to be a little more careful with the paintbrush.....

still confused.

I have checked that FAQ also , on the Topic of Reading VIN##
on Generations 2, saids for
Engine Type: 1=1.5 / 2=1.8 / 3=1.8 wABS.
There's a Post with a link on the ProtegeTech Yahoo/Groups, from the same type of FAQ, On topic Reading VIN# is that:
1=1.8 / 2=1.5 / 3=1.8 w/ABS .

i'm sorry i can't help you with that. when japanese cars come into new zealand, they are assigned a new VIN number so i have two shiney new plates (with unrelated numbers) riveted to the firewall where the old VINs were......
