there is no top speed limit, you can go 200mph if you wanted to

you're friend's a f*ckin retard

only thing that might be limiting the speed limit on your car is the shitty aerodynamics and a whimpy motor... heh, something we're all looking to cure. now, SOME cars have something called a speed govenor.. IE the later year SS camaro's have a govenor set at 159 mph... and likewise, the hummer has one set at 85 MPH!! i was NEVER aware of the eclipse having a speed govenor, and have seen evidence that has backed this theory of mine up. you're driving a compact sports sedan (at best), it's no ****** camaro, but definately not a hummer

Our cars have a governor installed on it, and its there for a reason. First, how often do you go 120mph+ in your Protege? Because I never tripped my governor, and it takes forever to get to it. Second, its in your ECU, and as soon you reach 6500rpm in your 5th gear (manual), 4th (auto), the engine will cut off the fuel until the RPMs go down to a certain level.

So if you are really sure, you can find some one to do it for you, but you would be the first one to find out what happens to the engine when thermal viscosity kicks in.

yeah, thats what i m talking about. i have a auto one, and the fastest i could go 115 mph, and then i had no chance to go up anymore cuz there was car in front of me. you talked about the ECU will cut off the fuel and then dont let you go faster anymore, thats what i m talking about. is there any way to cancle that ?

you only have 118mph??? how come? i got 115 mph, yours should be faster. I got my car a new intake and exhauster, but it shouldnt be like this. maybe you should try again next time. i guess yours should probably go like 130 something.

I wouldnt worry about making it go any faster, whats the point? Its not like you can race people at above 100 mph, it takes froever to get from 100-118
this is true. one night I was coming back from my girlfriend's place and apparently I was "tailgating" an audi a4 (a brand new one), and apparently the driver got pissed. so pissed that he decided to not let me pass him.... I tried to speed up and pass, but he zooomed infront of me and I couldn't go anywhere. then he decided to let me go to the side, but didn't let me pass. as soon as I tried to accelerate he sped up... in my efforts to go past him I managed to get my car going at 110+ mph - that's my all time top speed. my acceleration was better that night because there was no wind at all. I didn't want to push it more because I've never gone any faster than 100mph before... then I just decided to chill and turn on my high beams behind him. after about 10 seconds he let me go... but not without giving me the finger. he should try and do that to someone with a car that has more than 90hp at best. ******* bastard....

i'm jealous, the fastest i've gone in mine is 85mph. i didnt want to push it any more because i didnt know the speed rating of my tires at the time, but i dont think my car will go past 85 without flying into pieces.

All I can say is that the car handles MUCH better if there's no wind. I wouldn't dare go 110mph in windy conditions. That's why I like driving at night when there's no wind...

a lot of high speed accidents involve tires blowing out.. amongst tons of other ****. i'd actually like to see some research on what the speed readings actually mean.. like a tire rated at 125 mph.. how long can the tire sustain that speed with out heating up and just giving out entirely? i'd like to believe the tire would hold out, but i have no clue.. definately something to search on a rainy day.
peace

my manual has a speedlimiter at 115 and i wasnt at those RPMs yet. and I know it could've gone faster because I was on a hill and was accelerating up to it rather quickly actually(not like fast as in say acceleration in 1st gear or anything) and i just stopped at 115 even. sucks it was fun even though ive only done it once.

Idiots.
FOR THE AMOUNT OF TIMES THAT YOU'LL ACTUALLY BE TRAVELLING 190KMH (~115mph) WHY THE **** DO YOU NEED TO DO THIS?? WHY THE **** DON'T YOU PUT A GIANT WING ON THE BACK OF YOUR CAR, ITS THE SAME GODDAM THING: RICE.
I WANT TO REMOVE/DISABLE THE SPEED LIMITER IN MY CAR SO I CAN GO MAD FASTAR Y0!!!! = I WANT TO PUT A BIG WING/TYPE-R STICKER ON MY CAR.
