Does anybody know how to remove the exhaust vents on a 98' protege dash? i've been trying to figure it out without breaking them, because i have the rest of the interior painted i just can't get them out.

 

Make believe the vent is facing downward and you are raising it up. Now keep forcing it up until it just collapses in. You can also just stick a flat screwdriver underneath. That's actually safer but you can damage the dash instead of the vent.
