I have a 97 Protege without the climate control option. I contacted my local Mazda dealer to see whether the A/C option could be retrofitted, but he indicated that this was not possible (but with no explanation).

I quite like the car (not exactly fast, but it has been pretty reliable) and am loathe to sell it just to get a model with A/C, but I do not fancy another summer sweltering in my little sauna.

So, if anyone knows whether adding a unit is possible (either Mazda or aftermarket), please point me in the right direction.
