His turnsignals ARE there if you look closley. They have been turned red using taillight tint (a nice alternative to getting JDM tails)

I think you should just clean. If you sand use something really light like 3000+ just to remove small particles. Just my opinion. I'm not sure nor a professional

Are you spraying them on the inside or outside?

to tint the lights red you have to do the outside or the amber will still show

The unpainted part is positioned in such a way that part of the turn signals shows when illuminated.

I aggree with Fred/polito. You should be ok by just cleaning them, but, if you want to sand them, use a very fine "wet" paper to do so.
I think they will look great. Be sure to keep us updated with pics!

Get a round sticker, put it where you want to stay red, paint the tail light, dry remove sticker. Ta da.

From the outside, its a clean car with lots of potential, from the inside..fn gay! White, yellow and brown. No taste. Just leave it alone buddy.

Thats my car with the painted taillights. I did that, but didnt do it smart because the light would show through the paint at night.

If you want to do the same, you should put a few layers of black paint before the top coats so that the light wont shine through. Just a suggestion, although i doubt anyone plans on doing that to their car.
