Check Engine Light question

I have a 96 Protege, 1.5 Engine... just got it a lil while ago. The check engine light is on but the car runs perfect. I went to AutoZone they told me it's code P1195, does anybody know what that means and how I can fix it. Thanks in advance.

What was it? And how much did they charge you?

I've got the same year and have the same light. The dealer says it is the EGR sensor and solinoid = $513!
Agh.

I'm going to the junkyard... won't cost me more than 20 bucks

Alot of the time the vacuum line in the back of the intake manifold going to the egr boost sensor will block up with carbon . Clean the line and the port it attaches to on the intake manifold.

My bro had this problem but the car was running perfectly. so looked in a hayne's manual ( for mazda 90 -00 ) and it says : Remove the negative from the battery press on the brakes for 10 sec and put back the negative on the battery , NOW i know it may sound funny but it works for him and the car still runs perfectly ( i presume it reset the cpu )

I think I got the same code (intermittant) about a year ago, the explaination I got from googling meant absolutely nothing to me so I ignored it. I've put 10k miles on my '96 1.5L since then without incident.

Honestly I'm not sure if it was P1195 though, it's been a long time. I'd take it in and make sure.
