Air Bag Light - On

Hey, guys/gals. I was driving home yesterday on the highway, and as I was driving, my air bag light came on. I wonder if there is a way for me to clear it myself? The owners manual says to see a dealer right away. But I do not want to pay them crazy money for a few seconds of work that computer is going to do for them. I tried disconnecting the plug under the driver's seat, and I disconnected the battery terminal to reset the ECU, but all of this did nothing. If any one ever attempted and succeeded to do it on their own, let me know. Thanks.

How long did you have the battery disconnected? Whenever my check engine light used to come on I'd disconnect the negative terminal (after checking ths code) for a few minutes or more and that would do it.

Does any one knows where I can find out what the code is, with out going to the dealer? I tried a local AutoZone, but they had an Engine Light codes only, so it didn't get picked up. I really do not want to go to a dealer, because a local Ford dealer told me roughly an hour and a half to find out what the code is, and about $115! Only in their wildest dreams I will do that. They must be kidding - an hour and a half to find out what the code is? It takes less then a minute! Anyways, the dealer can go blow them selves! I am goign to drive on it, and hope no one will drive into me.

Hey turbonium , If the light is flashing count the number and sequence of the flashes. Should be a pattern like - flash flash pause flash would be 21 let me know and I'll look it up.

No, the light does not flash at all. Everytime, I start the car it comes on initially with all the other lights, then all lights clear, and about 3 seconds later it comes back on. I am thinking it is a busted sensor, and I am thinking of replacing it myself. I have to buy one of those Haynes Manuals to read into it, and see what I can do. Thank for the help, though.
