v tech engin swap

would it be possible to swap in a v tech engine to a protege, what parts would you need to change with the engine and what could you keep from the protege engine.

Do the BP swap.
Honda motors turn the wrong way, and the intake manifold faces the wrong way.
You'd be looking at over 10 grand. Unless you're a mechanical engineer a welder, and have a metal fabrication shop at your disposal.
But if you're a mechanical engineer, you'd be smart enough to realize that its not worth it.

btw... if you get a vtech motor... you just wasted money .. you might as well go buy a honda civic or something. I mean if you bought a mazda.. you should stay wit mazda no doubt And no, nothing will remain the same.. probably except your rims... lol

And the common joke is
Vtech is a phone manufacturer

Vtec is the Honda acronym

You have to admit...170 hp versus 122 hp in a naturally aspirated 1.8 is no comparison. Even the non vtec 1.8 Acura motor made 142 hp. While I'm anxiously awating my BP swap, part of me is annoyed that it's not as powerful as the Honda/Acura engines. But still...from 92 to 122 hp is worth the trouble/expense.

what are the toque numbers for the Vtec and BP engines?
I'd almost bet that we've got more, and a better curve.

In all fairness, let's compare the non vtec B18b with the BP

BP:
Horsepower 122 @ 6,000
Torque 117 @ 4000

B18:
Horsepower 142 hp @ 6300
Torque 127 lb-ft @ 5200

And with the Honda/Acura you get about half a dozen different tranny options from acceleration oriented to freeway cruising...even the ability to mix and match.

But dude, your comparing two different cars.... I mean the B18 i think comes out the Type R.... thats an Integra... Compare it to another mazda motor.. **** like the Mazda 6.. and the other cars comin out. You can't really compare one motor from one car to a big motor in a bigger car. The Protege's rival would probably be the Accord because they make about 120-130 hp. Compare the B18 to the 626. I think the Mazda 626 would dust it..... the V6 Model that is
