Transmission Swap??

Hey i have a 1997 LX and i was wondering if i could just swap in a manual tranny for my automatic. Or do i need to change the whole engine.

Yes it should be possible just remember that when you do it to change out your crank position sensor thats located in the tranny. The manual and automatics have a different placement of this.

I've never hear of any Mazdas having a Crank Position Sensor inside a transmission. BPs have the sensor right next to the crank pulley.

WEll from the zx2 side which uses the G5M tranny thats what we gotta do. It may be different on the mazda side.

Its only a 15 dollar part. I'd only worry about it if you take off your clutch and flywheel cause its usually located behind there.
