Question Squeaky Belt?

When I start my car I get a really loud squeaky sound... Is one of the belts loose? How can I fix it?... I put some belt lube on the squeaky belts and it stopped the problem for a week... but now its quite squeaky again... any help would be apprieciated! thanks.

Check if the belt is loose. Try tightening it a bit and this should solve the problem.

the bolt is at the left-rear of the engine bay, just above (and attached to) the alternator - loosening it will move the alternator away from the engine and tighten the belt.

not too much at a time tho' or you'll put pressure on the pulleys and be in a lot of trouble in the near future.....just tighten it enough to stop the squeal. if you are frequently having to do this then its time for a new belt.....

Also I suggest that you check for loose threads, cracking or missing teeth. All these are signs for new belts.

It's not nice to be left without A/C and power steering on a hot & rainy day. I can vouch.
