Automatic Tranny Question

what tells the car to only let it go to about 2200ish rpm when you are in drive with the brake down and you floor it??? can that be made to go higher easily or is it a lot of work???

Doh!

What you are doing is called power braking, useful to launch at the dragstrip but incredibly destructive to your torque converter and transmission. Doing this is causing high loads on stock clutch packs and potentially fatal to your torque converter.
If you had an engine that made power at higher rpm (lots of it), then you could buy a converter with a higher stall speed. On a stock motor and transmission, you are just tempting fate. If you're doing this with a Pro or similar, I would recomend you don't since the auto transmissions in these cars are on the fragile side.
