Angry alternator

I have had my 1995 Protege DX for about 4 months now. After about 2 months my belts started squeeking. I narrowed problems down to my alternator, and replaced it. The squeeking stopped. now about a month later my belt is squeeking again. I think it is because of my system. Is this possible? All I have is a Fosgate 360a2 and a vega ten in a bandpass. Please give me any advice. I can't figure it out.

I kinda think squeaking is a regular thing , nothing to really worry to much about , just so long as those belts don't come flying off

Thanks for the reply. I'm just not sure about this alternator thing though. Last time it squeeled until the belt tore off. It is so bad that if my headlights are on or the air is on, and I accelerate out of a stop, it sounds like its gunna blow up. It drives me nuts.

oh wow , I did not know that , maybe something is rubbing ,, have someone check it out , you could have the belt to tight or not tight enough

? on alternator

I have a 95 DX and my alternator is not going to last a whole lot longer. I am looking intoa new one and i was wondering if i need to get a high output one since i have added more powerfel speakers, head unit and fog lights. If I do need one how many amps should it be? most of the ones i find are 70 does anyone know if this is enough or should i move up to an 80? any help would be great.

Re: alternator

I have a fosgate 800a4 in my 95 dx. It doesn't squeal. But I don't have air either. I would definately get it looked at. One thing I did was upgrade my battery. Go to interstate batteries and have them look what the biggest battery that will fit. It won't solve the problem but it will help out a bit as far as straining the charging system.

well you have to rember that both your altenator and the battery have to be good, cause if one is bad , it will simply strain the other one out ...

I have recently noticed the altenator belt squeaking crap also and it is nerve racking... last night it squealed at every frigin stop light when I steped on the gas, I am going to change out these belts , both while I am at it ,, my timing belt still has about another 10,000 miles on it , before I hit 120,000 ligit miles, maybe another 15,000 or so
