Question 95 Sometimes stalls...

There is something wrong with it, its a 1.5L auto. When you slow down to a stop sign, the car idles way way down, and sometimes even stalls, now the CEL is on, but there is no one around cause of christmas to check it out. Do you have any idea's what it could be before I take it to a garage ???

Thanks
Austin

My 97 1.8 did that to me several times and eventually the Check engine light came on, for good. I ended up having to change the front o2 sensor. do you smell sulphur?? If you do then its running rich and thats probably whats wrong with it

I don't smell anything wrong, and I forgot to mention that the car shakes like a crack addict (really really bad).

there's a TSB out for something similar...something to do with the EGR valve. Looks like the EGR is a sonovabitch to get to. And the part costs $260 from the dealer and $249 from Autozone.

Best thing to do is get the code checked though.

same here, 1.5, year 96. slowing down to a stop, engines almost stalls. Have new distributor cap, MSD ignition box, MSD plug wires, new spark plug NGK, new rotor, new fuel filter. still with the problem. I would think that EGR is the problem. I should try to fix it and solve this problem.
