Exclamation The Worst Thing..............ever!!

I need HeLp!!

Heres the problem. The whole time I have had my 93 the gas tank lid will not open! I pull the latch inside the car and nothing happens. I have to reach from the latch inside the car to the lid and push the back of it so it opens. The mechanics of it work....but its missing a spring.

But I looked and looked and I cant find where one would even go.
If anyone can tell me how to fix or even have a picture or visual aid I would be eternaly in debt to you.

There is a small metal "clip" that goes on the inside of the gas door. Mine somehow fell off one time when I was getting gas. I never saw or heard it fall off. For a while I just had a piece of string tied to the pull latch and would pull on the string from outside the car and use my key to open the lid. I eventually got a new one from a guy on eBay who was parting out his car. You should just go to a junkyard and get one, its small enough to fit in your pocket! Here is a picture of the metal clip:

Just so you know, look on page 2-12 of your manual, there is a remote lid override switch, if that is helpful at all

Wow, a lot of people have this problem. My dad broke it one day and now I have about 10 feet of string tied to the pull latch for the gas. I pull on that and walk over and push on the gas door at the same time. Then roll up the string and put it under the seat. A lot of people look at me like I'm nuts.

Is this one of those many Protege recalls??

Yeah I had to do the same thing at first except I used a key chain rope.
Then I realized if I bent down far enought, stretched and contorted my body I coul reach both at the same time.

But god I look sooo dumb doing it!

Gotta fix this!

I just use the CC that I'm about to use to pay for the gas to pry open the door.

It's murder on paint though....good thing my car has been hit on all 4 sides EXCEPT the passenger side and I'm gonna have to repaint it AGAIN anyways.

(Hope I didn't just jinx myself)
