Wiring pinout for the gauge cluster..

hello all.. i am in the process of the gauge cluster swap from a first gen protege LX.. and i need a reliable pinout so that i can re-wire the harnesses for it to work.. if anyone has it typed out somewhere.. or has a good pic of a service manual.. it would be greatly appreciated.. thanks again!!

"The soul of a sports car...." etc. etc.

The Escort LX is like the Protege's second cousin. Welcome to the board.

hehe thanks yall.. the type s is gone.. too much commotion..

i found the entire protege service manual.. so i got that.. thanks though.. and its gonna be tougher than everyone thought...

there is a small circuit board on the back of the escort gauge pod.. one of my friends has it pretty much figured out..

but now there's the uncertianty of whether the signal's from the escort circuit board will make the protege gauges work..

we did find a small circuit board on the protege cluster.. but we dont know yet..

also.. no one can get the tacho to work.. at all.. anyone know whats up with that? thanks...

Make sure that the voltages are correct.

IIRC, the Escorts without the tach don't even have the signal wire in the dash. Most people have had to pull the signal from the ECU or DIS system. Don't ask me where or the wire colors . If my file server wasn't hosed, I'd be able to get you a pinout diagram that I drew up when I attempted the cluster swap in my ELX. If I ever get it going again, I'll post the images here.
