Smile What's up everyone

Hi everyone!
I just purchased a 1st gen. Protege today after having owned a Ford Focus for nearly 3 years. Long story.

My Protege is a 1992 model, Aqua color (what's the real name for it?), with a 5-speed mated to a 1.8L DOHC.

I am mainly interested in making my Protege fast, but keeping it reliable too. I regularly make trips to Kentucky to see my girlfriend (she's at school), which is a 10-hour drive from here in Wisconsin.

I have been working on cars pretty much all my life, but this is my first import (I know, the Focus...). I don't really know much about the Protege, let alone the 1st gen, but am more than willing to learn if I can get pointed in the right direction. Like I said, I'd love to make it quick, as racing has always been in my blood.

Once I can get some pics, I'll post them. This computer is a POS though (my roomate's) so my digicam no longer works.

PS: I forgot to mention, it's a FWD, not AWD (I wish it was AWD).

Yeah I saw that site after having read some old posts in the performance forum.

Also, is the turbo motor the same except minus the hardware (chip, manifolds, turbo obviously)?

Yes, as far as I know. All the internals in the BP turbo are the same as in the BP you've got in your Pro right now. The only differences are, as you said, external stuff like manifolds and the chip and whatnot.

Thanks! I'll be looking into doing a turbo setup after I move next summer. Since it's only a SOHC (I found out) I'll probably build a motor on a stand and drop it in when it's ready.
