is it easy taking side moldings off? those black things turn gray and its annoying sometimes. i saw a 323 hatch today and on the side of the car, it didnt have the moldings, and the indentation is the same color of the car. it looked pretty nice. any special instructions???

 

I removed mine with a piece of fishing line. Slip it under the edge and work it like a saw. Clean the glue residue left behind with adhesive label remover or something similar.

 

Isnt the side molding put ona different way on 95 and newer proteges?? cause my friends car looks like it is alot easier to take off.

i took mine off when i was doing 190 kph down a service road..it ripped off...so just hit 190 and problem solved...:P

 

no i havent taken them off. im prolly gonna do it soon. someone's first gen around here on their signature has them taken off. looks pretty nice. i'll try to pose the pic if i can find it later.

let me get this right, if you take off the "black" trim there are no mounting holes in the door?, just glue holding them there?
i can slip them off and clean away the glue and there are no mounting holes or clips that hold it on? cuz it would really suck to peal them off to find holes or clips there, then i would have to do a amature job at putting it back on, thanks just trying to cover all the bases before i do it

We got ours off with a small crowbar, then sanded the remaining glue down when we sanded the door. Comes off pretty easy, if you're not worried about putting it back on. IF you are planning to put it back on, be a little more careful so you don't bend the crap out of the molding

 

When u pull it off is the paint under the molding not faded and look stupid. Or was it the same color as the rest of the car ?

 

i was wondering about the fading issue, i believe my car we painted but the past owner and it looks like the moulding was takin off but im not sure, besides would the paint fade?my cars paint is rather new and is quite shiny so it would be a big noticible difference, if its was faded a little you could use some colored car wax to bring them together couldnt you? thanks again
