Steering wheel lock

How hard is it to remove the steering wheel lock?

I bought a GT parts car today and towed the car home 350km's, then realized I had lost the key. I got home late so I didn't bother checking it out myself. I can't get the car to its parking spot without steering..

I didn't think there was a steering wheel lock! Mine doesn't have one anyways.

If you watch those shows like 'caught in action' or something, they show guys stealing cars and what they do is really reef on the wheel till the lock breaks. If it's just a parts car that would work for ya.

Yes it has a steering wheel lock.

So today I take off the plastic around the steering column and look at the lock. It appears that at the factory they shear off the bolt heads so you can't remove it easily. Looks like it would take drilling, and that would mean removing the dash so you don't mess it up.

To park the car I ended up using the hydraulic floor jack. Lifted the car up and swung the back end around rolling it on the casters... was quite interesting.
