sport GRILLE question...

i want to make a home made grill with some nice mesh i bought. would it be gay or not look good if i cut out the black part of the front end where the emblem is and mounted the grill behond it or should i find a way to replace the black part and mount it where the previous grille was? anybody done this?

Dont do the mesh...it would look pretty bad.
Plus it its a little on the uncle bens side.

i was thinkin that but then i decided it might be okay...anyone have any creative ideas? that may not resemble a rice burner

I've wanted to do the mesh grille for a while. I've seen a couple of pro's with it done and it looks nice. With just the black mesh part cut out and replaced with some silver mesh. I've never had the time to try and figure it out cause the mounting brackets are on teh black plastic part, so if you cut it out, something has to be made to hold the thing on

i did not know there brackets in there, that is why i was going to cut it out. i plan to use black mesh for mine. im going to try to get a grill from the junk yard around here. ill see what i can do.

I've actually cut out mine..

I cut out the Mazda Emblem and the Black Mesh, DId a realy quick half-*** bondo job to smooth it all out a bit, had silver metal mesh in there, on the backside of the grill for awhile, but now there is nothing..

I think even with out the silver mesh it looks better than the OE tear drop Mazda emblem sticking out there..

just my opinion...

One of these day when I finish what I started i'll take pics...
