reply clutch Q
Hey Hiredgoon to inform you on my clutch that was slipping. I just got my car back from the shop, and the owner said that I had a cracked flywheel. I don't know how true he was being but he said that this was the reason behind the slipping clutch. and in any case it sounds like you have glazed your clutch. From my past experinces and people I have talked to oncve you glaze your clutch it will just keep happening until it cracks. then your in trouble. my suggestion is to get a new one before it's too late. but that's my opion. any friendly critizism from anyone else is cool because there might be another way around this.
sorry I wrote so long

Well it's not slipping toooo bad, but it is annoying sometimes...
Hoping not to sound dumb, but what is glazing the clutch? I'm probably going to have it replaced in the summer if I have enough cash...clutches are probably hell to change
thanks for your help

a clutch is made out of a hard rubber material, like your brakes. and they have a grippy top surface. when you glaze your clutch, you melt the top of the clutch, the grippy part, and when the top dries it s smooth instead of grippy. hence the slipping of your clutch. I drove around with my clutch like this and it ended up braking my the clutch, which broke my flywheel. If I wouldn't have taken it easy the clutch would have shattered and shrapnel would have gone everywhere. I am not saying that you have the same problem. I am just telling you what happened to me. And the clutch didn't slip until i tried to make to car accelerate to fast.
I hope that helps

I can mash the throttle and the clutch doesn't slip...it's just when I shift and get back on the throttle too hard (no I don't ride the clutch...when you had a beat up CRX you learn how to beat the crap out of a clutch haha)

Sorry I wasn't thinking I didn't mean rubber. there are actually made out of tempered metal. the point is that when my clutch started to slip I burnt it by attempting too many burn-outs and accelerating too hard. when i got it replaced my flywheel was cracked. and he pulled the clutch out in pieces. sorry for the mistake I won't answer again until I know I have all my info and my head straight.
