Problem with 94 Pro..?
Ok, a good friend of mine has a 94 protege. Well, I was driving it today (back from the shop actually.. just had a new altenator put in).. and when I stopped at a light, the rev gauge started bouncing from around 1000, down to about 300, then to about 500, then back up to 1000 real quick.. the car was shaking and it felt like the damn thing was gonna fall apart. It's an automatic.. so I dropped it into neutral and it seemed to chill out a bit, but still shook.
After a couple stop lights of this it seemed to get a bit more violent. Then, when I went to acclerate from the light, it didn't want to go.. i had to really press the gas.. then it slowly built up.. then right about the time it switched to 2nd gear it went fine again. This continued all the way to his house.
ANY ideas as to what may be the problem? You guys seem to know your stuff so I figured I'd ask here before taking it in to the shop.. besides, shops arn't open at 1am or whatever time it is..hehehe
Thanks,
Kyle

you might want to take a look and make sure everything is properly connected in the electrical system ie. battery terminals, feeds to the alternator. besides that, could be a problem with the intake or something. just a side idea, before you take it back to the mechanic, reset the ECU by disconnecting the negative terminal to the battery for 5 minutes and reconnecting it, see if it doesn't help.
