pondering something.....
Hey, I'm new to the forums here, and like you fellas (and gals maybe 
) i own a protege... i have a 92 protege LX (automatic btw, 
)
i bought it a couple months ago, and i got into a bit of an accident, but i fixed it and gave it a clean paint job. the interior is clean, and the engine seems to be in good condition, but the only problem is it has a bit of mileage on it (178k+)... thats the only thing that kinda irks me... but i wanna keep the car, and invest some money into it, make it go "zoom zoom".. lol
but my question is.... is it worth it?? its a nice car no doubt, but i still have the possibility of getting a new car in several years, so do i just drive it as it is, or put some money into to tune it up a bit? im having a hard time deciding, because unlike some others money is hard to come by for me
so who better tell me what i should do then fellow protege enthusiasts? thanks in advance for your replies

i would advice you work on the pro but i might be alittle bias
the protege pretty strong internals that can take nitrous and a good amount of boost from a turbo and the block has oil squirters. But if you like the idea of an engine swap there is a japanese 323 motor that many put in their cars, it is called the gtx and the higher trim is the gt-r. These motors are turbo and with intake and exhaust i heard 1/4 times of low and mid 13's, turn up the boost alittle 12's all day.
Our engines are turboless models of this engine (the main reason our cars are good for turbo)
go for the turbo or egine swap
the engine is only $875 at www.twistedperformance.com and you might be able to find one cheaper.

Auto trannies have a history of being stronger than their manual counterparts. Well with the torque converter adn what not there is more gearing to take abuse. the flip side is that there are more gears to work with and thus a higher loss of power through the drivetrain. a new an rebuilt auto tranny is great for strickly racing puropses. as a daily driver

hay dont really worry bout the milles man mine has 143kthats alot man and WOW i and my bro invested sooooo mash on it its PRICELESS right now and yes it been in to an axedent involving the fron but its fix now and running OK yvery nice car man
